December 5th, 2014:
SWE will be hosting the Spring 2015 Engineering Connections Dinner on Wednesday, February 25th, at the Westmark Hotel from 6-9pm.... it's official! :D
I am very excited to be reviving this fabulous networking event, and we are going to need a strong team of volunteers to make that happen! Before we all hunker down for finals, I want to get the ball rolling for the actions that need to to happen during Winter Break. All SWE members are invited to join the ECD Planning Committee, which will have its kickoff event next week. If you are interested in playing a key role in the success of the Engineering Connections Dinner -- please fill out this doodle poll, so that we can find a time that will allow as many people as possible to participate.

Tuesday, November 25th, 2015 Guest Lecture Series Presentation Topic: Science and Speculation in Decision Making- The Engineer’s Role Presented by Robin Bullock All decisions, whether they are personal, public or business-related are based on the decision maker’s beliefs, knowledge and values. Science can and should help decision makers by shaping their beliefs. Unfortunately, science is not easily accessible to decision maker’s and scientists often do not understand how to convey the information or the decision maker’s needs. The presentation will utilize the Deepwater Horizon incident as an example of the role of an engineer in the decision making process. Join us in Duckering 531 at 5:00 pm for this great talk! |
